INSPIRE FUTURE GENERATIONS AWARD 2023 WINNERS ANNOUNCED
https://www.thorntoneducationtrust.org/ifg-awards-winners-2023-winners
Announcing the winners of the 3rd annual Inspire Future Generations Awards initiated by Thornton Education Trust. These awards showcase exceptional efforts in youth and children engagement by architects and built environment professions, spotlighting individuals and organisations that go beyond mere tick-box commitments to produce meaningful participation and co-design.
This year's standout initiatives showcase remarkable strength in engaging young people within their local communities and new developments and integrating younger perspectives into local plans. A new theme in this year's awards is the significant role of mentoring in various projects, acknowledging the imperative to dismantle barriers and address inequalities within the industry.
The impact of these initiatives extends far beyond recognition, serving as a catalyst for positive change in shaping the built environment for years to come. These awards provide an unprecedented opportunity for this high level network of built environment professionals and enablers to come together and celebrate all their achievements.
“Our shared built environment is constantly changing around us, before changing us in return. It is brilliant to recognise and reward projects which empower young voices to help shape their communities; In fact it is far too important to leave to older generations alone.” David Ogunmuyiwa, Founding Partner, ArchitectureDoingPlace, Mayor's Design Advocate
“By Educating, Empowering & Inspiring the next generation, will only make for a better Creative and more inclusive, diverse society.” Neil Pinder, Founder HomeGrown+ and Trustee, Thornton Education Trust.
"Creating more opportunities for young people to influence their local environment and participate in the development of their communities is absolutely necessary. The IFG Awards celebrate those who contribute to achieving this goal, ensuring our built environment authentically mirrors the needs, aspirations and values of its most important stakeholders – the next generation” Victoria Thornton, Founder Thornton Education Trust
These projects form the basis of a unique resource for future projects and developments commissioned by public or private sector clients.
