Empowering young people in the built environment

The saying “young people are the future” is especially relevant to how and where we live, work and play.

Young people will inherit the world we’ve made. But they have no say today in designing or planning it. Yet our ‘built environment’ – villages, towns, cities, - generates 40% of carbon emissions and embodies so many issues governing quality of life.

Young people need to understand how we make and manage what we build to tackle the challenges they will face. We campaign for young people to be engaged in the processes, like design and planning, from an early age.

We help them have a voice through participation. To understand and develop skills that can lead them to technical, creative, entrepreneurial, or civic roles.

We do this through our education programmes and awards schemes that explain how to involve and engage young people, in schools, through dialogues, working with professionals within projects.

Making the future better for tomorrow’s citizens.
